We would like to thank everyone on the tour for their hopsitality, the technical and venue staff and all the performers.  We cannot wait to rock it again tonight! PURE STREET DANCE DVD IS COMING!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I am so excited my face nearly fell off this morning. Our new Pure Street Dance DVD is coming!  It’s been over 1 yr in development and it’s the definitive guide to anyone wanting to learn real deal authentic street dance. It was created with the sole purpose of dramatically improving your dancing. It’s totally unique as it breaks down all of the sik moves the Urban Strides instructors teach in class so now you can get the same dope atmosphere of an Urban Strides workshop in the privacy of your own home.

It will work as a perfect compliment to those of you currently at class, significantly improving the speed at which you improve.  If you can’t make it to class it is the perfect solution to make sure you become the dancer you’ve always wanted to be.  The steps are all broken down piece by piece to make sure you have them down and giving you a greater feeling of confidence.  Plus we have four different routines with four different levels so that you can progress with the DVD at your own pace. So not only do you learn the foundation steps to help your freestyle you also get over 2 hrs of routines, woop woop! If you want to improve your dancing and how to bust out the most desireable street dance moves than this is it.

There is also over 90 mins of extras including interviews with all the crew plus all of the backstage footage from last years tour!  This is the DVD we have always wanted to make, it is made by dancers for dancers.  The release date is November 3rd! We have limited stock but to ensure you are not dissapointed you can pre order your dvd here  http://street-dance-store.com/store/gbu0-prodshow/15.html

If you have seen the official dance crew perform, go to a class, been to a workshop, or wanted to be in the crew yourself this is the ultimate training tool, or if you just want to improve your freestyle but don’t know where to start, this is it!

p.s. Cos you are part of the Urban Strides family we are offering a special offer to you guys, it is selling in the shops for the RRP of £20 but we are offering to you for just £14! sssshhhhh don’t tell no one!

Urban Scholars

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

I just spent the morning presenting certificates to a group of exceptionally gifted young people, and I have to tell you it was fantastic.  The urban scholars programme was set up to help young people in London Boroughs to access expertise and experiences that might not have been accessible to them otherwise. The Moody foundation funded the enterprise and the benefit to the graduating students was obvious.  I was fortunate enough to be invited to give a key note speech and present the awards and I felt privileged to be asked.  When there is so much negativity going on in the news right now about the hardship facing many residents of london it restored my faith in society to be able to celebrate the incredible achievement of these young adults.  It took 4 yrs of commitment and a lot of hard work to graduate and  to see so much joy in one place was wicked. I personally received so much positivity from the event it will keep me going for months!  Congratulations to everyone involved in urban scholars both the staff and the graduates.  Good luck to everyone you deserve everything you get.  If you were at the event let us know what you thought, drop us a comment and stay in touch!

Swan Slam 08!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Last night saw Urban Strides headline at the swan slam hip hop dance show alongside professional companies Boy Blue and Jonzi D productions.  The show was an awesome success, much respect to Maria Ryan for producing the show and bringing so many like-minded artists together.  The crowd response we received was off the chain thank you so much to everyone who came and supported and made the effort to come and be part of the Hip Hop scene.  It was dope to see so many urban strides family members from classes come and show the love!  We kept it alive for our home town by dropping two new additions to our 2008 medley-a lockin duet and a piece to “I Mikey rock” by the cool kids, well done to the crew for all the hard work and extra rehearsals you put in you did the crew proud.  If you were there drop us a comment let us know what you thought, its always good to hear from you.
